Art and Theatre
The Village of Three Oaks has
become a year-round home for the arts. The Acorn Theater is home to a 1930's
Barton Theater Pipe Organ as well a robust schedule of stage theater,

performance art and live music of all genre. Live music fills the air throughout
the summer months in the various parks in Three Oaks. Dewey Cannon Park hosts
"Music in the Park" with live music every Saturday in the summer. These
performances are free to the public and family friendly. Dewey Cannon Park will
be the venue this year for the annual "Great American Music Festival" and
fireworks held every 4th of July weekend. Live music of all variety can be
heard weekly at the Featherbone Restaurant. Independent and foreign film run
throughout the year at the Vickers Theatre with the annual "Harbor Country Sound
of Silents Film Festival" held in August.
Works from Midwest and National
artists can be found at the galleries of "Out of the Blue", "Dawning, Art the
Gift", "Gallery 107," and the gallery at the Vickers Theatre. Artists
receptions and openings are held throughout the year. You can visit artists at
work in their studios at the Featherbone Lofts. An eclectic collection of art
and art objects can be found at Springdale, Ipso Facto, Jenny's Antiques and
Belle Via Market.
Every 3rd Saturday of the month the

galleries and select shops are hosting a Gallery Walk. These businesses are
extending their hours for the night and some are hosting receptions, providing
live music and artist demonstrations. The next Gallery Walk is scheduled for
June 17, while further "3rd Saturday Gallery Walk" dates include July 15 and
August 19 from 5-11pm.
Three Oaks is one of the few villages
in the country with the official position of Village Poet Laureate. Amy Mitchell
held the first honor in 2003, gracing special events in Three Oaks with her
original poetry. Readings are held throughout the year at the Acorn Theater,
Vickers Theatre and in Dewey Cannon Park.
Parks and Museum
The century-old Featherbone
Factory has been given new life thanks to long time property owners, new
property owners, the State of Michigan, and the Village of Three Oaks Downtown
Development Authority and Council.
The new roadway and parking lot
has given infrastructure for the Acorn Theater, artist's studios, galleries,
retail and future restaurant. The roadway was completed in 2004.
